Estimated reading: 5 minutes

Each practitioner can modify the formula builder to suit their needs and preferences.

Each formula builder has their own settings, and in some cases, each dosage mode also has its own settings.

The Formula Settings are split between the following sections.

Formula Name
Formula Privacy
Formula Options
Ingredients
Ingredient Columns
Preparation Instructions
Refills
Markups

Formula Name Settings

If you want to setup a default formula name when a new formula is created, you have the following 3 options.

Blank –  No Default Name

Date – It will enter the current date

Custom –  You can enter any text that will default each time.

Formula Privacy Settings

You can specify if you want your formula to be private or shared by default.

Formula Options

There are different options per dosage mode.

Default Dosage Instructions

Here you can write text that will always appear in the dosage sections area when you create a new formula.  You can edit or delete it when creating a formula.

Match Quantity Received with Dosage (Exact Qty Dosage Mode Only)

This option can be set to NO or YES.  If set to YES, if you specify a dosage as Take 6g, 2x a day for 7 days and the amount is 84g, it will automatically change the Qty Received box to be 84g.

Ingredients

This section has options that effect the ingredients section of the formula builder.

Default Dosage Mode

This will select a specific dosage mode by default when you create a new formula

Tabbing

Tabbing allows you to enter ingredients and their dosages in a specific order, by using the tab key to move the active cursor to different areas of the ingredient section.   For example, you may want to add all your ingredients (herbs) first and then all your dosages.  You may also want to add one ingredient and then the dosage and then add the next ingredient and its dosage.   Without using the mousepad or mouse, you can use the tab key.

Ingredient Columns

There are various columns of information when adding ingredients (herbs) to a formula.   Practitioners can control which columns appear and also the order of the columns.    Examples include  “English Name”,  “Pinyin Name” ,  “Enter Qty”, “Subtotal”

1.  There are column options for each dosage mode.  Click on the tabs to choose the dosage mode and then make changes.

2. Mark sure you press save after making chnages

3. Change the status to ON or OFF to hide or show the column

4. Enter an order number.  The lower the number the more to the left of the table it will appear.

Preparation Instructions

Preparation instructions is information that will be put onto the infosheet and never on the label.  Due to space constraints, we can only fit so much information on a label.  If you have additional information that you need to communicate to the patient you can add it to the preparation instructions section.

To save you time, you can create Preparation Instruction templates.   These templates can easily be inserted into your formulas without needing to copy and paste information.

Preparation Template
A saved template of instructions to be added to a formula.   A practitioner can modify the template when creating the formula

Template Variable
a variable is a piece of information that will be different each time, such as cooking time, steep time, amount of water.   You can create new variables and insert them into your template.   After adding the template to your formula, you can enter variable values which will be inserted into your template where they appear.

Examples

Example:   Add <water amount> ml of water to a pot and add the herbs to the pot with the water.
Add 1500 ml of water to a pot and add the herbs to the pot with the water

Variable = “water amount”
Variable Data = 1500

Add Variable

Click on “Add New Variable”
